Countertops
Minds in Motion Contractors can make the beautiful, marbled
concrete
countertop you have always dreamed of - and it won't look just like your neighbors! Sleek, elegant, classy and long-lasting, concrete countertops are as durable as the concrete they are made of. Acid stained tops are a sight to behold, with the colors smoothly flowing together. A stained top gives you several shades of the same color marbled softly together, allowing a range of complementary colors to be used. Concrete tops can be used in any setting, from a simple rustic look to an industrial setting to a classy, elegant kitchen. They work well with any type of backsplash - tile, stainless, wood, or even painted backsplashes. Sinks (drop-in, undermount, and farmhouse) and faucets (single stem, 2, 3, and 4 piece) of all kinds have been installed in our tops.
Backsplashes can be poured and colored to match the tops if you desire, or they can be designed to be complementary in nature. Tops are sealed with a stain and scratch resistant sealer.

countertop gallery for more ideas. Concrete
countertops are usually cleaned with warm water, but can be cleaned with a mild
cleaner when necessary. If the top is waxed, it is easily maintained by the owner.
We offer our standard pricing with a choice of 4 edges - eased, 3/8"
rounded, 1/2" rounded, or 45° beveled. Custom edges are available at an additional charge. We reinforce our counters with 1/4" rebar and pour a proprietary mix for strength. The counters typically protrude out ~1.5"
farther than the cabinet base and they are typically 2" thick. The finished weight is about 19 lbs/sf, roughly the same as granite. They are poured-in-place on a 3/4" plywood base to help disperse the weight and can be installed over most cabinet bases without any problems.
Can they be cut on? We don't recommend cutting directly on any surface. The knife will leave tiny micro-cuts (even on granite and artificial stone like
Corian) that will harbor bacteria. We recommend using a cutting board for any cutting.
Yes, concrete countertops can crack! Any cracking that occurs (and it isn't
often) is due to shrinkage, not to structural problems. Hairline shrinkage cracks only add to the uniqueness of your tops and enhance your coloring.
Acid stained tops are organic and will slowly "evolve" in color for about 90 days, "softening" in color and appearance. Don't be the last person to have concrete in your kitchen or bath!!
